Podcast Sponsorships: Build a Media Kit Before You Pitch

Show sponsors the audience you serve and the value you can deliver. Revenue depends on fit and execution, not a guaranteed download threshold.
Describe the audience
Include your show concept, publishing schedule, audience interests and available performance data. State the measurement period and how downloads or views are counted. Avoid presenting total lifetime downloads as the audience for a single new episode.
Create a clear offer
Define placement, duration, number of episodes, links, review process and reporting. Consider a niche sponsor, affiliate relationship or listener membership when appropriate. Use a written agreement that explains payment and cancellation. Check platform eligibility directly because programs change.
Protect listener trust
Disclose paid relationships clearly and follow applicable advertising rules. Do not imply personal experience with a product you have not used. A host-read message should still be accurate; enthusiasm does not replace substantiation.
Your next step
Build a one-page media kit and identify five companies your listeners already use. Pitch a relevant episode concept, not a generic promise of exposure. Review Spotify’s official monetization guidance for current options and country requirements.
